Did you know that you can request articles through interlibrary loan (ILL) services available at many public libraries? Try contacting your local public library for more information.
These databases provide an openly available option to search for scholarly content, such as journal articles and preprint articles. In many cases, preprint articles are made freely available, but not all journal articles from a publisher's website will be available for free.
Many universities have their own open access repositories where you might find scholarly works published by scholars from that institution. For instance, University of Waterloo Libraries hosts UWSpace.
Some publishers host openly available books on their website that you can read online for free.
