RefWorks (Classic): RefGrab-It

RefGrab-It

RefGrab-It is currently not working

RefGrab-It is an optional feature for capturing bibliographic information from web pages. It is available in two versions
as a bookmarklet that works with either Internet Explorer or Firefox and as a downloadable plug-in for Internet Explorer and Firefox.

RefGrab-It looks for information on web pages. If an ISBN number, PubMed ID, DOI (digital object identifier) or COinS (ContextObjects in Spans) are on the web page, RefGrab-It will automatically "grab" that information. In addition, it will also search various web resources "behind the scenes" to get supplemental information that may be of interest to you and that you can also import. RefWorks may even locate RSS feeds related to the web page, from which you can invoke and import information.

When you use RefGrab-It on a web page, it automatically opens a "temporary results page" in a new window. You can view the information and additional resources first, then decide if you want to import the data.

Note: RefGrab-It cannot be used on .pdf files from web sites.

For example, let's say the below article is of interest to you, and you'd like to save it to your RefWorks account. Once RefGrab-It is installed, simply click the "RefGrab-It" button and a new window will pop up and float over top of the website you're interested in (bordered in red below). Clicking the "Import to RefWorks" button will import the bibliographic details of this article into your account.
