Video Repository : Getting Started

UWaterloo Library’s collection of embedded instructional videos for use in LibGuides

Using This Guide

The purpose of this guide is to:

  • Provide videos that you reuse in your guides. The Video Repository Manager may make updates to the videos; any changes will be applied to your guides. 
  • Provide videos that fit the center column of a three column layout, or either column in a two column layout.
  • Give instructions for adding and resizing videos if they do not fit within your guide's dimensions.

Adding Videos to Your Guide

To add the video to your guide, select Add New Box in the column you would like the video to appear.

Then select the Reuse Existing Box tab from the top of the window.

Select the Video Repository Guide from the Box To Reuse drop-down menu.

A new drop down menu will appear. Use this drop-down to select the video title you want.


Resizing an Embedded Video

To resize a video select the Edit Media/Widget Code link below the embedded video.

To change the dimensions, give new values to the width and/or height in the code.

Embedded Videos forced to play HD as default

In the embed code, at the end of the URL that's associated with the "src=" add "?vq=hd1080" making sure its kep within the quotation marks. This will make the videos play by default in HD
