Researching Mennonite Genealogy: Cemetery Records

Cemetary Records on the Internet

These general databases are particularly useful in locating cemetery records:

  • Find A Grave
Find a Grave's mission is to find, record and present final disposition information from around the world as a virtual cemetery experience. Information is provided primarily by individual volunteers.
  • Ontario Genealogical Society : Cemetery Index / compiled by the Ontario Genealogical Society.
OGS puts particular emphasis on the creation of indexes. One major OGS project, for over 30 years, has been the recording of the inscriptions in all of Ontario 's cemeteries.
  • TONI: The Ontario Name Index
Maintained by the Ontario Genealogical Society

Cemetery Records in the Mennonite Archives of Ontario

Many cemeteries in Ontario with significant numbers of Mennonite burials have been identified and listed on our cemeteries page. For the cemeteries listed, we have transcriptions in print form.

A microfilm collection of some cemetery records is also available for viewing at the Archives.

Cemetery Records in the Library

Mennonite cemetery records and other information about Mennonite cemeteries in published books are located in the Milton Good Library. Search the University of Waterloo library catalogue for the subject "cemeteries."
