Find titles in the main collection using Omni, the Library's catalogue

Aside from Waterloo Reads books, the Library has many interesting books it obtains to support teaching, learning, and research at the university. Most are located in the book stacks but some are available electronically.

This page shows you two ways you can locate these items using Omni, the Library's catalogue.

We'll use author, Rohinton Mistry, to illustrate two ways you can browse virtually using the catalogue.


1. Browse a list of titles by author

Our search for Mistry, Rohinton (entered with the last name first) shows there are 8 books in the system.

  • Click on this line to view the list, choose one title to review.
  • Sign in to the system with your WatIAM credentials.
  • If the item is an ebook you can open it and view it online.
  • If the item is in print, submit a request to arrange for the pick up/mail service.

2. Scroll through the virtual shelf

At the bottom of each catalogue record there is a Virtual Browse feature. Use the left and right arrows to see what items "sit" near by. Click on any of the images to examine that book's availability. Omni's virtual browse option

  • Sign in to the system with your WatIAM credentials.
  • If the item is an ebook you can open it and view it online.
  • If the item is in print, submit a request to arrange for the pick up/mail service.
