Browsing for Books

Books in most academic libraries are organized by subject using the Library of Congress classification scheme. Each book is assigned a "call number" under a "subject heading."

Due to the interdisciplinary nature of Mennonite Studies, relevant  books may be scattered throughout the entire library collection. Therefore, make sure you search the library catalogue in addition to browsing the shelves.  However, shelf browsing is still worthwhile when looking for topic ideas, or finding books you may not have noticed in your catalogue search.

When browsing the shelves, please do not put books back on the shelf ! Bring books you are not signing out to the library desk. Staff will be happy to shelve them for you.
