Mennonite Studies: Library Services

Eight Steps to Get Started at the Library

Connect your personal laptop and some other wireless devices to Library resources at the University of Waterloo through Eduroam. Once you have connected to Eduroam on our campus, you can connect while on university campuses in many parts of the world.

Many University of Waterloo electronic books and databases are accessible only when you have signed in with your WatIM. When you are off campus, you will be prompted to Get Access from Anywhere.

W Print is the pay-per-page University of Waterloo printing system. Payment is by WatCard. The Milton Good Library printer (located in the niche beside the universal washroom) uses this system.

To put funds on your WatCard:

  1. Don't wait! Load even a small amount now so that you won't be caught short when needing to print a paper in a hurry.
  2. Add funds online using Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Visa Debit, or MasterCard Debit, or see the WatCard frequently asked questions page for other ways to add funds
  3. Note that funds can not be added at the Milton Good Library desk.

To print using W Print:

1.  Go to the W Print website
2.  Sign in using your WatIAM userID and password
3.  Select Web Print and click Submit a Job
4.  Select a VIRTUAL printer, depending on your needs and then click the Print Options button:
    Black & White double sided – rs-public-BW-vx
    Black & White single sided – rs-public-BW-vx-s-s
    Colour double sided – rs-public-Colour-vx
    Colour single sided – rs-public-Colour-vx-s-s
5.  Enter number of copies, and then click Upload
6.  Upload your documents (drag and drop or upload), and then clicking Upload & Complete
        (Microsoft Office or PDFs only).
7.  To finish: go to the photocopier, tap your WatCard, and release your print job
8.  Print your files – either individually or by clicking     Release All.  Printing will happen instantly.

Your instructor uses course reserves to provide you with access to selected readings from print and electronic resources.

To find your course reserves:

  • From Waterloo LEARN, click on the "get course reserves" link in the library resources widget on your course home page.

or

  • From the Library’s home page, click on Course reserves and login with your WatIM
  • If the courses you are registered for have material on reserve, they will be listed in the "my courses" table on the student main menu screen.
  • Click on a course to see a list of items on reserve.
  • Click on an item’s title to find out call number, location, and current availability information for print reserves, and to view eReserves.

Your library account will list items you have on loan and when they are due, items you have requested, and any fines you have accumulated. You can renew most items directly through your library account.

Research Tip: You can also use your library account to place holds on items and generate personal reading lists.

Milton Good Library study rooms can be booked for groups of 3-6 people.
