Indigenous research

This page is meant to provide entry points for researchers interested in discovering more about Indigenous ways of knowing to influence their academic research. The focus of the resources provided here are on First Nations, Inuit, and Métis groups in North America and the area that is commonly known as Canada, though other Indigenous groups may be represented in some of the works listed.

As one engages with Indigenous knowledge, people, and culture, one must keep in mind that Indigenous people do not exist as a monolith, and that "Nothing about us without us" is a motto which must be adhered to in an ethical research process.

Organizations

AISES in Canada
A society working on increasing the representation of Indigenous peoples in science, technology, engineering, and math. Their resource center provides access to AISES publications, webinars, and Wings of Change magazine.
Indigenous Mathematicians
An organization of Indigenous Mathematicians that publishes a podcast and profiles of Indigenous scholars in mathematics.
