University of Waterloo Library is a depository library for Canadian and Ontario government publications. The Library catalogue is therefore an essential starting point for finding government documents. Most government publications are on the 5th floor, Dana Porter Library. The library's catalogue indicates if the publication is elsewhere. Since 1990's more government documents are available online. You will find here starting points for finding online and print government documents.

The CODOC classification system is used for government publications ensuring that materials published by a particular country or organization are shelved together. These groupings are further broken down by department, division, branch, and year.
As of 2004, many government publications will now have Library of Congress call numbers (LC) and can be found in the regular book stacks. Exceptions to this include Statistics Canada materials, legislative materials, and older serials.
Please consult the conversion guide of government publication call numbers as they appear in Primo to their format on an item.
GALLOPP (Government and Legislative Libraries Online Publications Portal) - provides one-stop access to over 320,000 electronic provincial, territorial and federal government publications and legislative materials dating back to 1995.
