The Library is currently transitioning vendors for technical standards, and as part of this process starting Feb 1 we will no longer have access to technical standards on TechStreet. Access to the new vendor will start ASAP once licensing details are resolved, and this guide will be updated at that time with new information on how to access ACI, BSI, and ISOs. Accessing Standards through the Library

Waterloo subscribes to standards from several organizations, listed below. If you cannot find the standard you are looking for, use the contact form on the Get Started page to place a request for the standard. Requests will be reviewed on an individual basis.

AAMI standards

AAMI Standards
AAMI develops consensus standards, technical information reports, and other technical documents, that are largely used in the healthcare field.

ACI standards

ASTM standards

Access via:

ASTM Compass
Provides standards and technical engineering information.
Coverage: varies
The ASTM portal covers a broad range of engineering disciplines, including aerospace, biomedical, chemical, civil, environmental, geological, health and safety, industrial, materials science, mechanical, nuclear, petroleum, soil science, and solar engineering.

ASME standards

CSA
Waterloo has access to some ASME standards through the CSA standards database.

BSI

Access temporarily unavailable.

CSA

Canadian Standards Association (CSA)
Provides full-text access to Canadian standards and codes.
Coverage: 1931 - present
Users are permitted to download PDF’s, but not codes and standards”. Users off campus can only use the “view online” option.

IEEE

Access via:

IEEE Xplore Digital Library
To access Standards, change the search field parameter to "Standards."
Print versions were issued in conjunction with other organizations, e.g., IEEE-ANSI. Search for older standards in the library catalogue. Include the search term "standard" for best results.
IEEE Xplore provides access to journals, annual conference proceedings, and IEEE technical standards.

ISO

Access temporarily unavailable.

SAE

SAE Mobilus
An index to SAE standards, technical reports, journal articles, and magazine articles.
Coverage: index 1906 - present; full text latest 10 years
Waterloo subscribes to only the technical papers section. Only citations and abstracts are available for all other material.
