Zotero at University of Waterloo: ZoteroBib

This guide will help you use the free online citation and research management tool Zotero to organize citations from Library catalogs and databases.

ZoteroBib

ZoteroBib is a new service that helps you build a bibliography from any computer or device without creating an account or installing software. It is a good alternative to Zotero if you need to create a one-off bibliography for a paper.  ZoteroBib supports over 9,000 CSL styles, including popular styles such as APA, MLA, and Chicago/Turabian.

On the web page that displays the item you want to add to your bibliography, copy the URL from the browser's address bar

Go to the ZoteroBib website and paste the URL into the search box and click "Cite." Zotero extracts the bibliographic data and creates a citation. Edit the citation as needed. When finished, click "Close" and your citation is added to your bibliography.

Continue to add entries using URLs. If saving from a URL doesn’t work, or you have a book, printout, or PDF that you can’t easily find online, you can copy or type in an ISBN, DOI, PubMed ID, or arXiv ID.

Under "Bibliography," choose the preferred citation style. Double-click on any entries that require additional editing.

When finished, choose an Export option from the drop-down menu.
