Translations: Search databases

To find original titles of translations, search relevant databases by a known English or other language translated title. Typically, the Descriptors/Subjects (controlled vocabulary) for criticisms of individual works provide the titles in the original language.

• Search Example using the MLA International Bibliography Database:

  • Use the Advanced Search Function to search "Brothers Karamazov"
  • Find relevant search result
  • Click the title of the result to open the record
  • Scroll down to "National Literature Classification" section and locate the original title of work
