Indigenous Entrepreneurship

Indigenous Entrepreneurship refers to the creation of a new business venture by Indigenous people, often for the benefit of Indigenous people. The resources on this page are related to First Nations, Inuit, and Metis peoples, with a particular focus on resources from Canada.

Case Studies

In North America, students learn to understand the dynamics of business activity and the consequences of different business decisions by reflecting on examples from real-life business situations through case studies. For Indigenous learners, the problem is that none of the thousands of case studies used in Canadian business programs depict challenges faced by Indigenous entrepreneurs. Because case-studies did not yet exist, the Indigenous Entrepreneurship program at United College undertook to research and write them in-house.
